Sharon Manson
President

Sharon E. Manson, a member of the Waverly City and Pike County Career Technology Center boards of education, became the OSBA president on Jan. 1, 2012.  Her board service began 24 years ago when she was first elected to the Waverly City board. She has represented that board on the Pike County Career Technology Center board for 17 years.  She is president of the Waverly board and has been the board’s vice president, as well. She also has served as a legislative liaison and student achievement liaison for both districts.

The seven-year OSBA trustee is a member of the association’s Executive, Audit and Nominating committees, the Capital Conference Planning Task Force and Federal Relations Network, and is chair of the Legislative Platform Committee. Additional statewide assignments include the OSBA Board Member Cabinet, which has been meeting with Gov. John Kasich’s office; Student Achievement Leadership Team; and OSBA’s Ambassadors for Education program. She also is the Southeast Region immediate past president and has served on the region’s executive committee for 14 years.

A retired Ohio Valley Electric Corp. supervisor, Manson is the executive director of the Pike County Convention and Visitors Bureau. She is active in many community organizations, including the Pike County Farm Bureau; Merchants Association; Pike Heritage Museum; Pike County Rotary; Pike County Chamber of Commerce; Pike County YMCA; U.S. Department of Energy Future Land Use Commission for the Piketon Enrichment Site; Scioto-Paint Valley Mental Health Board; Pike County Hospital Foundation; and Waverly Kiwanis.

Within her districts, Manson is involved in band and athletic boosters, the health-wellness committee, Waverly Enrichment Group and CTC Advisory Board. She also is a mentor for career center competition groups.

Manson and her husband Don live in Waverly and have two grown children, Skyla and Matthew.

Richard C. Lewis
Executive Director

Richard C. Lewis was appointed executive director of the Ohio School Boards Association on September 30, 2006.

As OSBA’s chief executive officer, Lewis is responsible for providing leadership in developing and maintaining programs and services that assist Ohio’s 720 boards of education in fulfilling their leadership responsibilities in public education.   Lewis, a native of Amherst, Ohio, joined OSBA in 1984 as a labor relations specialist. He went on to serve as a policy specialist and business and marketing manager.

He also has held numerous leadership positions within the association, including deputy director of information services, director of labor relations and management services, and director of communication and information services. He was promoted to deputy executive director in 2002 and served in that position until becoming interim executive director in July 2006.

Lewis has served on numerous state and national committees including Ohio’s School Employees’ Health Care Board Advisory Committee, the Ohio Leadership Advisory Council, the Ohio GrantMakers Forum Standards Committee, the KnowledgeWorks Ohio Transformational Dialogue Team and the Education Policy Tax Institute.

He is a graduate of Ohio University, where he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration. He also holds the designation of Certified Association Executive (CAE) from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and is certificated in convention management by ASAE.

Lewis belongs to the Buckeye Association of School Administrators, American Association of School Administrators, Ohio Society of Association Executives and American Society of Association Executives.

Lewis and his wife Laura are the parents of two sons, Jason and Jacob.
